Procedures On Unilag Final Clearance and Certificate Collection

by Sanjo

Let me begin by expressing my congratulations to the graduates who were a part of the 52nd Unilag Convocation Ceremonies, which took place from the 12th of January to 21st, January 2022.

The clearance procedure can be pretty challenging if you don’t know what to do. The purpose of this post is to make it easy for you with a step by step guidance on how to go about it.

The first thing you’ll need is a photocopy of your convocation booklet. In more explicit terms, the book’s front (cover) page and the page where your name is listed. When you get those two copies, you proceed to the Dean’s office for a clearance form. The convocation book will be given to you at the Dean’s office to make a copy of if you don’t have it.

Now that you’re a graduate, you are required to pay a sum of 2000naira alumni registration fees to any bank on campus. The teller will be stamped at the bank. Please make a copy of that teller and take it to the alumni office.

You will need to make a mandatory payment of 20,000 naira for the Convocation ceremony and certificate. You would have to generate the payment advice from your student portal and then print the online receipt after payment. Remita will send the receipt to your mail. Download it and make a copy of that too. Take both copies to the cash office for stamping.

Once you’re done, head to the main library to get cleared. The clearance form you collected at the Dean’s office will be presented here. Once you’re cleared, proceed to the bursary department for clearance as well.

Then you should visit the Main Library, if you finished from the Faculty of Education, you would need to visit the Faculty of Education Library for clearance.
The last step is to go back to your Faculty, to the Dean’s office, and you will be directed to your faculty officer. At this stage, you will need your student ID card (if lost, get an affidavit to replace it), the alumni bank teller, the clearance form given you initially, the photocopies of the convocation book, and…

If you are brisk about the whole process, you can get everything done in two hours.
I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Note: All graduating students are expected to collect their certificates within three (3) months after Convocation. Failure to collect them will attract a demurrage of N50 per day.
